Shoulder Dysfunction & The Scapula

The ball and socket joint between the humorous and scapula are most often thought of as the shoulder joint and area of dysfunction and pain. The scapula is often the cause of many shoulder issues. Treating only the shoulder joint without addressing the scapula will often lead to an unsatisfactory result.

When the ligaments get lax in a joint it can cause greater instability. The shoulder joint allows for great mobility and directional movement. Much of the stabilization of the shoulder is done by the scapula. When the scapula is in the wrong position it can be responsible for many shoulder issues. Instability, pain, and tears could be a result.

The position of the scapula is evaluated during a chiropractic examination. Observing the scapulas position and motion is an important part of a skeletal muscular evaluation.

If abnormal motion is found, proper adjustments and manual techniques are performed to correct the abnormal motion and dysfunction. This will result in pain reduction and better function and strength. Therapeutic exercises will be prescribed as home care or done in the office by the chiropractor.

All parts of the skeletal system relate to each other. This means that other problems can occur because of scapular dysfunction. Neck and radiating arm pain my also occur from this syndrome. Make sure you see a chiropractor if any of these issues are happening to you. Morgan Chiropractic has dealt with these types of problems for 3 decades. A plan of care will be prescribed, and better health will be on its way!
