At your initial visit, your chiropractor will ask questions about your health history and perform a physical exam, with particular attention to your spine. Your chiropractor may also recommend other examinations or tests, such as X-rays ¹.

3. What should I expect during a chiropractic consultation? Your chiropractic consultation may involve a lot of information gathering by your chiropractor, so it’s best to be prepared to answer all of their questions. Chiropractic Physicians will begin by taking your patient history to become knowledgeable about any medications, allergies, or prior health conditions ².

4. How does a chiropractor determine if a condition will respond? Once the diagnosis is established, the chiropractor can determine if the condition will respond to chiropractic care, because certain conditions–such as fractures, tumors, or infections–may not be treated with chiropractic methods and typically require a specialist physician’s treatment ³.

5. How long does an appointment take? The length of an appointment can vary depending on the complexity of the case and the treatment plan that has been developed for you. However, most appointments last between 30 minutes and one hour ⁴.
